With the December holiday season fast approaching, anyone needing to do business with the town of Carleton Place should take note that town hall will be closed from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2.

At a Dec. 12 discussion of the town’s policy review committee, staff noted that regularly scheduled Tuesday evening meetings of various committees, as well as the council itself, conflicted with the Boxing Day statutory holiday. As a result, the meeting of town council scheduled for that night will be pushed back to Dec. 19.

In addition, because council and its various committees only meet four Tuesdays of each month, it was decided not to begin the 2018 session until Jan. 9. On that date, councillors returning from a holiday break will hear reports from the physical environment and planning and protection committees. The first regular town council and policy review committee meetings will follow on Jan. 16, with the corporate services, community issues and, if necessary, planning and protection committee being heard on January 23.

The second regular council and policy review committee meetings will close out the month on Jan. 30, with all February meetings returning to their normal order.
