At the Community Issues Committee meeting held on June 19th, council reviewed reports and minutes from various external committees such as Parks and Recreation, Environmental Advisory, etc.  Parks and Rec will be forwarding an updated parks/trails use bylaw to council for review and passage.  The last amendments were done in 2005 and new changes will recognize expected trail activities as well as spell out the process to obtain permits for specific uses of public spaces (e.g. sporting events, fundraisers, community picnics).

This municipal department also received council committee approval to purchase new software to help with facility bookings and registrations.  Their current version is no longer supported.  When asked by Mayor Antonakos if this new system would permit online bookings/reservations of certain facilities by the public, the answer from staff was no, but an additional package could be secured in the future for that purpose.

A new library book hub will be coming soon to the Carambeck Community Centre thanks to the Men’s Shed (whose members built the unit) and the town library which spearheaded the initiative.
