At the end of the public session of Carleton Place’s Policy Review Committee meeting of Oct 30th, chair councilor Brian Doucett called for a motion to move in-camera (behind closed doors) to discuss 2 items; response to an integrity commissioner inquiry, and sale of municipally owned land.  Mayor Louis Antonakos spoke against discussing the first item in private, stating that “it did not meet the definition of a closed-meeting topic”.  He attempted to explain his reasoning, but was cut off by Doucett who called for the vote on whether or not to close the meeting to the public.  The vote was carried 6 to 1 with only Antonakos voting nay.  When the closed meeting session was over the report delivered in public was to accept the integrity commissioner’s report and that council deemed the matter closed and instructed staff to take no further action.
