Members of the Smiths Falls Police Service and Smiths Falls Police Association will be hosting a free family fishing day on Sunday July 9 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Lower Reach Park.

This event will close out Ontario’s license-free fishing week, which started on July 1. These licence-free days are held each year as a way to promote fishing and the outdoors in our province.

Fishing will go until noon, followed by a hotdog lunch and drink at noon provided by the Kinsmen Club of Smiths Falls. All children that participate will provided with lunch.

This event has been made possible by the Smiths Falls Canadian Tire, Smiths Falls and District Crime Stoppers, Victim Services of Lanark County, Kinsmen Club of Smiths Falls and community volunteers.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to pre-register at iwanttofish@sfps.ca, call (613) 283-0357 ext. 1238 or drop in to the Smiths Falls Police Services station.

There will be prizes for all participants and the event is rain or shine.
