Perth council passed a motion on May 30 to support the issuance of a Manufacturer’s Limited Liquor Sales Licence – by the glass for Perth Brewery. Councillor Judy Brown voting against and Councillor Riq Turner declaring a pecuniary interest. A motion is required by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
Mayor Fenik remembered back to the town’s consternation when the first brewery opened in Perth, “No, no, no, they said. And now look at it,” he said. “There’s been a complete turn around.”
Councillor Jim Boldt agreed. “It’s amazing.”
Councillor Brown asked if there was adequate insurance should something happen. Mayor Fenik commented that insurance was the proprietor’s issue and Brown agreed but asked “What if?”
Mayor Fenik suggested they ask legal counsel.
