On Saturday, Jan. 14 The Mississippi Squares hosted their 28th Annual Halfway Dance where over 300 people attended and danced at Notre Dame Catholic High School in Carleton Place. Three dance halls and levels of dance were offered.  The participants were from the 33 clubs in the Eastern Ontario Square and Round Dance Association. Couples and singles of all ages enjoyed attending this fun event.

For the participants who just began learning the steps in September, the halfway dance signifies that they are halfway to learning the 52 steps of the basic program. It takes a full season from September to December and January to April for new dancers to complete the basic program.  Mainstream and Plus and Rounds are the other levels of dance.  The callers for all three halls were from various clubs, including the Mississippi Squares.

A buffet was offered to all participants along with refreshments when the dances ended.  Door prizes were also available.
