The Town of Smiths Falls is making a move in a greener direction by eliminating the use of plastic bags in its spring yard waste collection program.

Starting in May 2017, the town will only be accepting compostable paper yard waste bags for the spring and fall leaf collection program.

Large compostable paper bags are available locally and can be purchased direct at most hardware retail stores.

For further information on these program changes, please call the Public Works and Utilities Department at 613-283-4124 Ext. 3302.
