UPDATE: OPP investigate two vehicles breaking through ice. Public asked to avoid Mississippi Lake.

Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigating a Fatal Collision on Mississippi Lake in January 2019 have charged the driver of a passenger vehicle that broke through the ice and was submerged.

Kory BELL (27 years) of Tay Valley Township is charged.

One (1) Count Operation of a conveyance causing death.

One (1) Count Dangerous operation causing death.

Contrary to the Criminal Code.

He was released to appear at the Provincial Court in the Town of Perth.

At 03:45am on Sunday January 6, 2019 officers responded to a report of a passenger vehicle through the ice near Craig Shore on Mississippi Lake in Beckwith Township.

Members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit attended and recovered the body of a thirty one (31) year old man from Drummond North Elmsley Township.

Investigation revealed that a second incident involving an ATV breaking through the ice nearby was unconnected.
