Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa’s (Habitat GO) Perth Chapter celebrated the completion of its first Perth build with a dedication ceremony to welcome the newest Habitat homeowners on Wednesday, June 28.

Construction of the single-family home began in September 2016, thanks to a unique partnership with Algonquin College’s Construction Carpentry – Advanced Housing program in Perth and Habitat GO’s new Perth Chapter. The students volunteered their time on the build as part of their curriculum and the net-zero energy home design fits in well with other homes in the PerthWorks community.

Thanks to support from a number of sponsors and donors in the Perth area, Makhtar and Seynabou Tall and their family partnered with Habitat GO to help build their new home alongside volunteers and they will now pay an affordable mortgage.

Since 1993, Habitat GO has partnered with 59 families in the Greater Ottawa area.
