Councillor Jim Graff presented a motion from the Perth Police Services Board (PSB) at Perth’s Committee of the Whole meeting last week, John Clement, a member of the PSB, is asking that the word adequatebe changed in the new proposed Police Services Act, 2017, to efficientor competent. Clement offers this explanation: If someone told me I was doing an adequate job, I would either take offence or ask why my work was just adequate.I dont think this is what any police officer would like to hear, verbally, or in a survey, that the officers, or the whole force, was doing just an adequate job.

The motion was passed unanimously and will be sent to council Dec. 19.
