Committee of the Whole, Monday night, agreed to temporarily reduce the assessment on the iconic building at 78 Brockville Street previously known as the Kilt and Castle; the assessment, at the moment is unknown, until the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) provides it. The reduction in assessment has been asked from January 1, 2018 until, hopefully, the end of August this year when renovations and repairs will have been completed.

The property was vacant until it was purchased in 2017 by new owner Lisa McLean. Once renovations are complete, the assessment will increase. Janet Koziel, Town Treasurer, appeared before CoW, to advise council before forwarding the application to MPAC.
