Top 3 issues facing your municipality and its residents that council has control or major influence over: Debt load, tax rates, and waste services.
Your solutions/approach to those 3 issues:
Debt: My extensive business background I can accomplish a balance of borrowing for capital improvements and saving for future projects while spending wisely and effectively for day-to-day operations.
Taxes: We will develop a strong economic development program to encourage more people to move to Rideau Lakes. Better communication and customer satisfaction with easier to understand rules are needed. The current business growth in Smiths Falls should be embraced. Our building department will change. Small business owners will be encouraged to consider our villages and hamlets with a fair and reasonable partnership.
Waste services: I will make it a priority to work with Council to improve this program. There are opportunities for change.
Do you own (or have a stake in) or operate a commercial/industrial business in your municipality? (Including vacant development lands or rental units): My wife and I live on Big Rideau Lake and have since 1987.
