Smiths Falls police keep busy with end of month crimes

Male arrested for drinking and driving
On Wednesday, April 26 at approximately 8:33 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle on William Street west. The 62-year-old male driver of Smiths Falls, was found to have alcohol on his breath. As a result of police investigation the male driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. As a result the male’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days. The suspect was later released by way of an appearance notice.

Male arrested for breaching his release conditions
On Wednesday, April 26 at approximately 3:02 p.m. a 61-year-old Smiths Falls man was arrested for breaching his recognizance release conditions. The male suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to this charge.

Male shoplifter flees store
On Thursday, April 27 at approximately 6 p.m. a 62-year-old male Smiths Falls suspect entered a business on Lombard Street. While inside the store the suspect selected and concealed numerous items. The male suspect left the business without paying for these items. The male was placed under arrest on scene by a loss prevention officer. The suspect fled from the loss prevention officer on foot and was later located and arrested by police. The male suspect was later released by police by way of an appearance notice and officer in charge undertaking.
