The evening was warm enough to compel the staff at 4 Degrees Brewing Company in Smiths Falls to open the garage door at the side of their establishment in the hopes of letting in some cool breezes. Stephanie Mitton was there at her first Meet and Greet event; she is one of four candidates who have announced their intention to run in a federal by-election for Conservative Gord Brown’s seat in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. So far no date has been set. Mitton is keen to get started. Asked if she was more excited or nervous, with no hesitation she opted for excited. Mitton (née Ryan), soon to be 34, was raised in Lombardy, has two young girls, is married to Ralph and comes from a family of small-business owners and outdoor enthusiasts.
