At a Special Council Meeting Monday night in Smiths Falls, council passed a bylaw to authorize an agreement with Canada Parks and Recreation Association to receive $15,187.20 in funding subsidies for three summer jobs under the Green Fund Jobs initiative. The subsidies will be used to offset employment for summer positions for students with the Town of Smiths Falls within the Community Services Department. The term of employment runs from April 1 to September 30; the extent of the job is 16 weeks, 40 hours per week at $14 per hour ($5,062.40). This funding accesses provincial funds to help offset operational costs for summer jobs. Council agreed unanimously to the bylaw.
