Susan Freeman Municipal Election Candidate Profile

Name: Susan Freeman

Municipality: Tay Valley Township

Position sought: Reeve

Are you currently retired or working (what industry): Retired

Former elected positions/terms if applicable: Former Deputy Reeve, former Warden of Lanark County.

Please list the top three issues facing your municipality and its residents that you would like to tackle in the upcoming council term and your solutions/approach to those three issues: To work to ensure that Tay Valley is an affordable place to live and grow and build, that Council, staff and taxpayers are treated with respect, consideration. Continuous improvement has to be our goal as does ensuring  sound financial management. Tax increases must be kept to a minimum, Council must explore every opportunity at cost reduction, increase cooperation with other municipalities to share services and joint purchasing opportunities,  as must every grant opportunity be sought. Rural municipalities all share their dependence on a residential tax base, but sustainable growth is very important in Tay Valley with our lakes and rivers and we must ensure a strong, healthy environment. A healthy environment and clean water is essential to those who live here and to those who want to move here for business, pleasure and to put down roots.

Tay Valley is a beautiful township, with a strong, knowledgeable population. We must use our collective strength and knowledge to build our future.
