Each year municipalities head off to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference. This year it’s in Ottawa from August 19-22. Some Ministers and Parliamentary Assistants will be in attendance and will host municipal delegations. CAO Malcolm Morris asked council for suggestions for these delegations. Staff identified four: Connecting Link funding program, Perpetual Care reserve funds, new fire regulations, and the business education tax rate. The new fire regulations will have an impact on the delivery of fire protection services within the province – firefighter training and certification, community risk assessments and public reporting for fire departments.

There are no financial impacts associated with preparing and submitting delegation requests; there is a cost to attend the conference.
