Tysen’s Mission to a Million, in collaboration with Make-A-Wish® Eastern Ontario, is coming down to the final home stretch with only 20 days remaining in his incredible five-year journey to wish it forward and raise one million dollars to help grant 100 wishes.

Tysen was born with Pfeiffer syndrome, a genetic disorder that prevents the skull from growing normally and affects the shape of the head and face as well as the hands and feet. At nine days old he experienced his first of 27 surgeries to help improve his quality of life.

On November 12th, 2012, through Make-A-Wish® Eastern Ontario, Tysen got to meet his hero Adam Sandler. Through this life-changing experience, Tysen was amazed that a person that was so busy was able to take time out of his day to help others. With this in mind he knew he could do the same and with this new-found inspiration, Tysen came up with Tysen’s Mission to a Million (www.missiontoamillion.ca) The mission was clear, over the next five years, he would help raise one million dollars for Make-A-Wish® Eastern Ontario.

Over the last five years, Tysen has attended countless events, fundraisers and community gatherings with his million-dollar goal his main objective. Through countless hours and dedication including postponing surgeries, Tysen has raised $900,580.57 and has adopted 72 wishes through Make-A-Wish® Eastern Ontario. When asked why it’s so important for him to finish his mission by October 29th Tysen answered:

“Raising a million dollars in five years is a goal that I set for myself. Reaching my goal represents that I have succeeded and achieved what I set myself up to do. I got to experience first hand the impact a wish can have on a child and that impact continues to affect me daily. I hate knowing that other kids living with critical and life-threatening illnesses like myself are currently waiting for their wish. Reaching my goal would help me adopt 28 more wishes in Eastern Ontario.”

While he does face daily challenges and struggles relating to his condition, Tysen has not let this deter him from his main goal to help others. Even when he’s going through tough times, his thoughts are always about the people around him. His outgoing personality, as well as drive to succeed, has had an amazingly positive impact on the community and everybody that he meets.

We are working very hard to help Tysen in these last 20 days to help him complete his mission. With 20 days left and under $100,000 left to go, Tysen’s view of the last 20 days is “dream big or go home.” To help Tysen accomplish his mission please spread the word and donate at missiontoamillion.ca, you can also contact Tysen directly at info@missiontoamillion.ca.
