Submitted by the town of Smiths Falls
On March 12th, the Town experienced a major water main break on one of the three water mains which supply drinking water across the Rideau River. This feeder main has been taken out of service and drinking water supplies have been restored. The Town has also been in consultation with the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit and confirms that there are no concerns regarding drinking water quality.
Presently, the Town is requesting that residents and businesses on the south side of the river continue to limit non-essential use of water until further notice. These restrictions will remain in effect until such time as repairs to the water crossing have been completed.
We thank everyone for their continued cooperation and patience.
