People First of Lanark County and the Free Community Christmas Day Dinner Committee are hosting the 10th annual Christmas dinner at the Carleton Place Legion on Dec. 25, Kory Earle, co-chair of the Free Community Christmas Day Dinner Committee,  told Carleton Place councillors at the Dec. 6, 2016 committee meetings.

The free Christmas dinner tradition started in 2006 and has been a success for the last 10 years. “Over 1,150 people have benefitted from this event,” Earle said.

The day-long event will be hosted at the Carleton Place Legion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and as per usual, everyone is welcome.

“Back by popular demand, country music legend Arlene Quinn will perform at 2:30 p.m.,” Earle said. “We even got called from the North Pole that Santa Claus will appear at 1:30 p.m.”

Buds Taxi will provide free transportation that day in Carleton Place. If you can’t make it to the legion, call (613) 451-0051 to have a meal delivered.

“We invite the entire community and surrounding area to join us for a fun filled day,” Earle said. “Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, and may 2017 bring much happiness, hope and good health.”
