The Smiths Falls Bears hosted the Kemptville 73s in their fifth annual Pink in the Rink breast cancer fundraiser game on Friday, Oct. 27.

The Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre was a buzz with the fundraising efforts, including a 50-50 draw, silent auction, and chuck-a-puck. A Mitch Marner jersey from the Toronto Maple Leafs was one of the items up for auction. All proceeds from the game were donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Dressed in their bright pink jerseys, the Bears led the game in the first period, delighting the hometown crowd with a strong 3-0 scoreboard going into the second period.

The 73s fought hard to make up for lost time, and caught up to the Bears in the third period.

The clock ended on a 4-4 tie, and overtime ticked away with no new goals being scored. A fierce shootout ended the game, 5-4 for the 73s.
