Faye Campbell Municipal Election Candidate Profile
Name: C. Faye Campbell
Position Sought: Councillor
Currently Retired or Working (where?): I am semi-retired and still run a small construction business with my husband Lyle.
Former Elected Positions/Terms if applicable: I have served as a councillor in Beckwith Township since 2003.
Community volunteer experience (service clubs, local committees, fundraising, etc): As part of my council duties: I am currently the chair of the Beckwith Township Planning Committee and attend, the finance, public works, fire and recreation committee. I am a member of the Heritage and Community Development Committee, the MVCA, the fund raising committee for the new Beckwith Splash Pad and Playground, the Heritage Days Committee, and the Lilac Festival Committees. Along with staff, I organize the Seniors Breakfast for Canada Day and the Hootenany. Away from council, I am an active member of the Ashton United Church Women and belong to the Beckwith Friendship Club. I also participate with “100 Women Who Care in Lanark County”.
Top 3 issues facing your municipality and its residents that council has control or major influence over: Infrastructure, taxes and heritage
Your solutions/approach to those 3 issues: I would like to continue to upgrade and maintain our municipal roads to a higher standard. We have a five-year plan in place to do these upgrades and we must follow it. I would like to continue to manage the public funds responsibly to keep our taxes the lowest in Lanark County. I would like to complete our Heritage Village by adding a small log farmhouse, hoping for additional grants to finish the village. My motto has been, and will continue to be “Preserve the Past, Embrace the Present and Plan for the Future”.
Do you own (or have a stake in) or operate a commercial/industrial business in your municipality? (Including vacant development lands or rental units): I own property in Beckwith and own a small company with my husband Lyle. We develop land.
