Kerri Nicholson-Watson Municipal Election Candidate Profile
Name: Kerri Nicholson-Watson
Municipality: Beckwith
Position Sought: Councillor
Currently Retired or Working (where?): I am currently employed full-time as the finance and accounting manger for a large landscape and snow removal company
Former Elected Positions/Terms if applicable: N/A
Community volunteer experience (service clubs, local committees, fundraising, etc): RMMHA hockey team manager, WOSC soccer coach, Richmond-Munster T-ball coach
Top 3 issues facing your municipality and its residents that council has control or major influence over: Rapid growth, tax rates and services for our growing community.
Your solutions/approach to those 3 issues: I am committed to keeping Beckwith Township rural with moderate growth that includes larger than average lot sizes so that we increase the tax base and not the tax rate. I’m not focused on a particular demographic however, being a mom of a young child I do have the needs of the younger families of Beckwith at heart, which includes services such as daycare and the community park growth. Beckwith council is on the cusp of transition with incumbents nearing the end of their desired council terms. I feel the people of Beckwith would benefit from electing a new councillor this term so that these individuals would benefit from the experience of the incumbents before they decide to retire from council.
Do you own (or have a stake in) or operate a commercial/industrial business in your municipality? (Including vacant development lands or rental units): Yes, my husband and I live and own property in Beckwith Township.
