Edward Toby Randell Municipal Election Candidate Profile

Name:  Edward Toby Randell

Municipality: Carleton Place

Position Sought: Councillor

Currently Retired or Working (where?): I own Blade Sports at the Carleton Place arena.

Former Elected Positions/Terms if applicable: N/A

Community volunteer experience (service clubs, local committees, fundraising, etc): I have always volunteered my time and efforts through minor sports in both Carleton Place and Beckwith, both personally and business wise, be it through coaching, officiating, mentoring, raising funds or donating products for leagues, teams and individuals.

Top 3 issues facing your municipality and its residents that council has control or major influence over: Residential needs, Commercial Development, and Communication

Your solutions/approach to those 3 issues: I will ensure that future residential development meets the needs of all citizens, including senior and affordable housing, and that lines of communication are opened with various government agencies to obtain our fair share of funding for these projects. I will push for the implementation of an Economic Development Office, to help seek out and encourage commercial growth within town and to provide assistance and tools to ensure the viability of existing businesses. Lastly, I will use my 25 years of business and personnel management experience to help bridge the distance between the citizens, council and town staff, providing a cohesive, positive future for Carleton Place.

Do you own (or have a stake in) or operate a commercial/industrial business in your municipality? (Including vacant development lands or rental units): I own Blade Sports at the Carleton Place arena, a skate sharpening shop that also sells hockey related products.
