The Carleton Place detachment of Lanark County OPP hosted its fourth annual free skate and lunch on Saturday, Jan. 20 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. About 75 adults and kids bundled up to play hockey at the outdoor rink on Coleman Street.
“It’s a great opportunity for kids to see [officers] outside our police uniforms and outside our cruisers,” said Constable Robert Hawn who helped organized the skate. “It’s really fun and it encourages young people to be outside in the fresh air rather that an home on their devices.”
The Carleton Place detachment would like to thank Dominos pizza, the Town of Carleton Place, Ocean Wave Fire Company, Tim Horton’s, Winston Miller Construction, Kodiak Sheds, the Police Service Board and the Canadian Co-operate of Wool Growers who all help make the event possible, Hawn said.
A pizza lunch from Dominoes was served at noon along with juice and chips. Even police dog Hans was on the scene to meet the kids.
