Paul Kehoe Municipal Election Candidate Profile

Name: Paul Kehoe

Municipality: Drummond North Elmsley

Position Sought: Councillor Drummond Ward

Currently Retired or Working (where?): Retired

Former Elected Positions/Terms if applicable: 1st time running for Council

Community volunteer experience (service clubs, local committees, fundraising, etc): Freedom Ride (Animal Rescue), Kanata Food Cupboard

Top 3 issues facing your municipality and its residents that council has control or major influence over: Currently the Area Commissioner for Valley Highlands Scouts. Involved with Scouting for 20 years in a variety of Scouter positions working with youth from Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. Perth Minor Soccer Coach at house and competitive levels both boys and girls. Perth Minor hockey volunteer at trainer level. Perth Fair board member for a number of years. Drummond School Parent volunteer with the Environmental Eco Ninja Program.

Your solutions/approach to those 3 issues:

1. Infrastructure renewal: The conditions of existing road in the Township need to be prioritized for upgrade or maintenance that takes advantage of any existing provincial infrastructure grants

2. Wild Parsnip Spray Program: Review of the effectiveness of the program in respect to long range fiscal implications and the effectiveness given the future presence of this invasive species. Does it make financial sense if this is just a short term solution or one that requires spraying to continue for years into the future.

3. Traffic patterns: Review of the current traffic controls on certain roads that have high traffic use in residential areas to determine in new signage is needed. Tow that currently have been identified to me are the Tennyson Road and Concession 9A.

Do you own (or have a stake in) or operate a commercial/industrial business in your municipality? (Including vacant development lands or rental units): I own with my spouse 72 acres of active farm land in Drummond Ward.
