A $25,000 donation from the Quattrocchi Family will aid in improvements to the children’s department of the Smiths Falls Public Library, town councillors were told on Feb. 6.
Councillor Chris Cummings, the town’s representative on the library board, reported that the upper floor of the library is to be renovated some time in 2018. Because that is where the children’s section is located, he added, “some of the money should be able to go towards that work.”
Cummings said the library will also be seeking provincial Trillium Foundation grants for that work, and should be a good candidate to receive funds, because the renovations will greatly improve the energy efficiency of the meeting.
The library board plans to provide council with an update on its 2016 activities and future plans at a presentation in March.
