On May 1, 1968, Glen Tay Public School welcomed its first students from the fifteen neighbouring one room and two room schools. This amalgamation resulted in many new opportunities for students and staff alike which has continued to this day.
On May 1, 2018 current students, family members and all alumni are invited to celebrate 50 years of learning and growing at Glen Tay School from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Guests can wander the halls and visit classrooms to view current student work, to see what has changed over the years and to reminisce about days gone by.
Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by greetings from David Crowley (Glen Tay’s first principal) and some of the original students and teachers who were in attendance on that first day back in 1968. Special musical entertainment will be provided by some former students and a collection of photos and other memorabilia will be on display for everyone to enjoy. If you have any items of interest that could be added to these displays, please drop them off at the school by Fri., Apr. 27th.
We hope that many of you plan on joining us on this special occasion and we look forward to seeing you on May 1st!
I was one of the first students. My sister’s and I came from Fallbrook. What a lifetime ago.
