Highlights of Mississippi Mills council meeting March 20

A report was put forth from the Chief Librarian regarding the Ontario Library Association (OLA) and Federation of Ontario Public Libraries (FOPL) for Council to support their submission for increased provincial funding. Some of the annual provincial priorities include an increased base funding of $50 million and dedicating $25 million for Ontario’s digital library.

Mississippi Mills will be applying for a grant with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Municipal Asset Management Program to develop a strategic asset management policy in order to meet the legislated deadline of July 1, 2019.

Council reminds everyone of the upcoming Community Official Plan (COP) Open Houses that start this evening. Tonight’s meeting, Wednesday March 21st, will be at the Almonte Old Town Hall, 14 Bridge St, Almonte, from 6pm to 9pm. The topic will be Almonte Ward and Urban Subdivision policies.
