A barbecue fundraiser was held on Sept. 20 in Carleton Place by Hometown Hearts for the Eden family to help after a fire destroyed their home.
Hometown Hearts is a volunteer group in Carleton Place that aims to help members of the community in times of tragedy such as this.
The barbecue offered food, drinks, live music, a raffle, and a bake sale. The bake sale was organized by Notre Dame Catholic High School council and staff.
One of the two bands performing was also from Notre Dame, the other was the duo Thirty-Three. Connor Larocque and Ethan Ryan make up the duo. “I love to play music and this gave me a chance to help the community,” said Ryan.
Thirty-Three welcomed the community to the barbecue.
Notre Dame raised a total of $4,100, the Christmas Day Committee gave $250, while Hometown Hearts raised $3,500 and about $500 in gift cards were collected.
Anyone interested in making a donation can do so at the Beckwith Butcher or money and gift cards can be dropped off at Valley Granite and Design.
