    Local athletes lead football team to perfect season

    Seven football players formerly from Smiths Falls Minor Football Association lead the Myers Riders junior varsity under 16 team of the Ontario Varsity Football League to an 11 and 0 season.

    Local players include: Joshua Pilon, Blair Coleman, Nathan Coleman, Dryden O’Reilly, Caleb Cooney, Daniel Sheehan and Chris Miller.

    On Aug. 5, the team kicked off against the Etobicoke Eagles in Hamilton at the Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster University. The Ottawa team beat Etobicoke in the final 55 to 32.

    Etobicoke was also undefeated in their regular season.

    Nathan Coleman received game MVP.
