Mississippi Mills Mayor and Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Chair, Christa Lowry, was recognized as a 2025 recipient of the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal at the ROMA Conference on Sunday, January 19.

She was presented with the honour by Minister of Rural Affairs, Lisa Thompson, alongside Steve Pinsonneault, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Rural Affairs, and John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is presented to individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canada or a particular province, territory, region or community, or have made outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

Mayor and Chair Lowry was recognized for her commitment and tireless advocacy on behalf of rural Ontario.

“It was an honour to recognize Christa Lowry’s leadership in rural Ontario by presenting her with the King’s Coronation Medal,” stated Minister Thompson. “Her dedication and exemplary leadership to not only her community, as Mayor of the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, but also to rural municipalities as Chair of the Rural Ontario Municipal Association, is a shining example to others in public service.”

“I am proud to stand alongside Minister Thompson and honour Mayor and ROMA Chair Christa Lowry. Working alongside her, I have seen firsthand the positive impact she continues to make in Mississippi Mills and our communities,” said MPP Jordan.

The medal, struck in nickel-silver, was created by the Royal Canadian Mint.

“It’s an incredible honour to receive this humbling recognition, made even more meaningful in front of 2,000 of my closest colleagues from across Ontario,” said Mayor and Chair Lowry. “Thank you, Minister Thompson. It is my true privilege to represent and advocate for the needs of Mississippi Mills and rural Ontario.”
