Lanark County OPP Detachment weekly news Feb. 11 – 18

Between Monday, February 11, 2019 and Monday, February 18, 2019 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 290 calls for service. 

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 9

Impaired Drivers: 1

While on patrol in Carleton Place on February 17, 2019 just after 1:00 A.M., officers from the Lanark County OPP observed a vehicle driving inappropriately and conducted a traffic stop. The subsequent investigation resulted in the driver, Darrell LOUTIT, 35-years of age of Beckwith Township, Ontario being arrested and charged with Over 80. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and was released from custody on a Promise to Appear with a scheduled court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on March 4, 2019.

Domestic Incidents: 7

Shortly after midnight on February 16, 2019, officers from the Lanark County OPP responded to a reported assault at a residence on Otty Lake Side Road in Tay Valley Township. The police investigation revealed the matter to be domestic in nature and involved a third party. Injuries were sustained by all three involved persons. A male was arrested and charged with three counts of assault, one count of uttering threats and one count of mischief. He was held for a bail hearing at the Perth Ontario Court of Justice on February 19, 2019. The male’s name cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

A 40-year old female from Ottawa, (ON) was arrested and charged with domestic assault and Failing to Comply with Probation Order after police were called to a residence on Tatlock Road in Lanark Highlands Township of February 15, 2019. Officers from the Lanark County OPP attended the residence and conducted their investigation. The female was later released from custody on a Promise to Appear with a scheduled court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on March 25, 2019
