Perth Committee of the Whole okayed a recommendation on Feb 7 to establish a municipal unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) policy. The policy will provide a guide for flying drones over property owned by the town.

Drones are becoming more popular and several people have approached town staff to request permission to fly their aircraft over town property.

John deRosenroll, Perth chief administrative officer commented that this is a policy essentially like that NAV Canada uses, and that Perth wants to be sure the proper etiquetteis in place. The policy will guide staff in how to deal with these requests. The recommendation will go to council Feb. 21 for a final yes or no.
