The Bears donned pink uniforms Friday night against the Cornwall Colts for “Pink in the Rink” in support of cancer research. Clearly being the better team that night, the Bears steamrolled to a 5:1 win despite only having 21 shots on goal versus 27 for the Colts.
Not wasting any time, Theo Todd scored the first goal for the Bears at 2:45 in the first period, assisted by Bruce Coltart and Tate Leeson. Ryan Richardson, assisted by Nicolas Lariviere and Aaron Frenkel, followed with a powerplay goal at 13:36, and Andre Simard finished off the period with an unassisted score at the 19:53 mark for a 3:0 lead.
The second period saw Bruce Coltart and Tate Leeson setting up Noah Adams for another goal for the Bears at 9:36.
With two players on the penalty bench, Cornwall had no chance when Cameron McLean sent his puck into the net 36 seconds into the third period. Theo Todd and Tate Leeson assisted. Bryan O’Mara finally managed to bring the Colts to the score board with a powerplay goal at 11:59.
Victor Desjardins, who was just named the Week 6 CCHL/CCM Player of the Week, won First Star of this game, Theo Todd received Second Star, and Bryan O’Mara was awarded Third Star.
