Township of Rideau Lakes Council and Committee of the Whole meetings to be held virtually until further notice

Virtual transition allows Rideau Lakes Council to prioritize staff and public safety

RIDEAU LAKES – The township is advising the public that, effective immediately and until further notice, all Rideau Lakes Committee of the Whole and Council meetings will be held virtually.

This decision follows a recommendation from the Township’s Joint Health and Safety Committee under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). The recommendation was made in response to events that occurred during the Council meeting held on October 6, 2025, where the workplace environment became unsafe. As a result, police were called and staff exercised their right to refuse work under OHSA provisions.

The Township is committed to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all staff, Council members, and members of the public. Transitioning to virtual meetings is a precautionary measure to support workplace safety while the situation is reviewed and addressed.

Details on how to access upcoming virtual meetings will be made available on the Township’s website at www.rideaulakes.ca.

We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation during this time.
