Ronald Holman Municipal Election Candidate Profile

Name: Ronald Holman

Municipality: Township of Rideau Lakes

Position Sought: Councillor of Ward 2 South Elmsley

Currently Retired or Working (where?): Currently I serve as mayor, chair of Rural Ontario Municipal Association and chair of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario rural caucus. I am vice chair of the Housing Service Corporation of Ontario.

Former Elected Positions/Terms if applicable: I have been mayor of Rideau Lakes since 2000. I have been on council for the Township of South Elmsley prior to amalgamation.

Community volunteer experience (service clubs, local committees, fundraising, etc):  None listed.

Top 3 issues facing your municipality and its residents that council has control or major influence over: South Elmsley needs new library facilities, address deteriorating roads, resolve water issues facing Bass and Otter Lake, and many others.

Your solutions/approach to those 3 issues: My plan would see the O.P.P. move to a satisfactory location else where in our township and locate the library in the current O.P.P. location. Many of our formerly seasonal properties are now full time ,thus creating more demand. Many of our subdivisions have been in existence for many years and the infrastructure is worn to the point of replacement. I will be adding these to our road program which addresses road condition in the township. Lake levels have been a issue on Otter and this year Bass lakes. I will work with residents, ministries lake associations and council to find a acceptable solution.

Do you own (or have a stake in) or operate a commercial/industrial business in your municipality? (Including vacant development lands or rental units): I own my home.
