Search warrants executed in Joint Forces Investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) have charged two people in connection with a series of break-ins in Smiths Falls, Ontario, as well as parts of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Counties.

Members of the SFPS and members of the OPP East Region Criminal Operations, OPP Community Street Crime Unit, the OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit executed three search warrants at two residences on Russell Street in Smiths Falls and a home Townline Road in South Elmsley Township on Thursday, August 22, 2019..

Richard HALLDAY, age 59 of South Elmsley Township has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Break and Enter to a Dwelling to Commit and Indictable Offence – Sec 348(1)(b)
  • Fail to Comply with a Court Order – Sec 733.1(1)

Adam JACKSON, age 33 of Smiths Falls is charged with:

  • Break and Enter to a Dwelling to Commit and Indictable Offence – Sec 348(1)(b)

The accused are schedule to appear for bail hearings August 23, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.

The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending.
