Large snowflakes filled the cold blistery air of the night sky outside, but the party raging inside the Bears’ Den in Smiths Falls on Friday night was hot hot hot, with the Smiths Falls Bears delivering a solid 6-3 win over the Navan Grads.
Early into the first period, Bruce Coltart opened the goalfest with a goal at the 2.18 mark. Mitchell Larabie followed two minutes later with the next goal. Navan’s Curtis Fabbro responded with a Grads goal shortly after. Bears’ Kyle Dowdall scored next, and Navan answered back with a goal by Joe McGrath.
In the second period both Michael Larose and Dowdall from Smiths Falls scored, widening the lead of the Bears considerably.
The third period saw Larabie scoring his second goal of the game, while Nicholas Chartrand of the Grads managed to land the final goal of the game later on.
The Bears outshot the Grads 44 to 23, with goaltenders Bradley Dobson and Joseph Giacobbo (Navan) spending all 60 minutes on the ice.
First star of the game went to Larabie, second star to Dowdall, and third star to Curtis Fabbro (Navan).
