Smiths Falls Bears miss a win against the Nepean Raiders

The Smiths Falls Bears missed another opportunity on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for a win on home ice. The Nepean Raiders left the Bears Den with a 4-2 victory.

The first period saw no scoring by either team. Smiths Falls gained the upper hand with a goal by Scott Gervais halfway into the second period with assists by Kris Lalonde and Hayden Hart.

The Raiders evened the score with a power play goal by Silas Mattawashish later in the period.

The Bears took the lead again at the 9.02 mark in the third period with a powerplay goal by Alex DiCarlo, assisted by Michael Larose and Ethan Coltart. The Raiders struck back with a goal by Alexander Bourhas at the 12.45 mark and another by Antoine Belisle at the 18.02 mark.

Down by a goal, the Bears decided to take goalie Bradley Dobson out of the net at 18.59, but payed for it when the Raiders scored on the empty net. Dobson returned to the net for the last thirty seconds of play.

Overall, both teams were fairly even matched, with the Bears firing a total of 37 shots versus 36 for the Raiders.

First star of the game went to Antoine Belisle (NEP), second star to Alex DiCarlo (SFB), and third star to Kyle Alaverdy (NEP).

The Bears play the Naven Grads in Naven on Jan. 28.
