Andrew Howard and Nick Ritchie, two of the partners who operate Smiths Falls-based 4 Degrees Brewing Company, appeared before town council on Jan. 9 seeking support to pave the way for their plans to open a local operation at the County Fair Mall.
Howard and Ritchie requested a council resolution that will allow them to apply to the province for a permit to operate a brewing facility, which the hope to locate in the empty space formerly occupied by a Staples store at the mall.
“Everything is contingent on us getting our licence to manufacture,” said Howard.
“Best of luck,” said Councillor Lorraine Allen. “We will continue to support your business.”
The partners also announced the launch of two new varieties of beer in their Hometown Collection — Old Slys ’69 and Frost & Wood ’55.
