Niki Dwyer Municipal Election Candidate Profile

Name: Niki Dwyer

Municipality: Smiths Falls

Position Sought: Councillor

Currently Retired or Working (where?): Working – professional urban planner

Former Elected Positions/Terms if applicable: N/A

Community volunteer experience (service clubs, local committees, fundraising, etc): Volunteer at large. No direct association to a particular group, but never afraid to lend a hand when needed.

Top 3 issues facing your municipality and its residents that council has control or major influence over: Quality development and housing, better parks and informed decision making.

Your solutions/approach to those 3 issues:

Quality development and housing: Using my professional experience, I will work to guide development so that it maximizes community benefit, while keeping Smiths Falls an attractive place to invest.

Parks: They also contribute to the well being of our residents, especially our youth, children and grandchildren. I will work to develop a four-year investment and partnership plan to improve and upgrade existing parks and public spaces.

Informed decision making: I will do my research, ask the critical questions, and put the communities collective interests above all else.

Do you own (or have a stake in) or operate a commercial/industrial business in your municipality? (Including vacant development lands or rental units):  Yes, I own multiple properties in town.

Promising to do your homework; that’s no different than any of your competitors. Parks, they seem large enough in smiths Falls that we are not threatened with them being overcrowded….
How is your program going to affect the taxpayer? Did you cost any of your proposals?

If you’d ever seen Niki in action in her role as a professional planner, you wouldn’t question her ability to “do her homework”. She’s extremely well-informed and professional.

Hello Niki, I read the article in the SF Record news. I was wondering if there would be anything else which you would like people to know which you did not share in the article? Sincerely, Suzanne

Hi Niki I was at the candidates Meeting last night, and I thought you should know that I was very impressed with you and all your answers and what you stand for. Talking to a few others, I would have to say that we all are intending to vote for you.
So Good Luck in the election
