Howling Designs, a Smiths Falls design firm whose motto is “Stand out from the pack,” has applied for $10,000 façade improvement grant under the town’s Community Improvement Plan.

Economic Development Coordinator Ingrid Bron advised councillors at a Nov. 27 meeting of council’s Committee of the Whole that the grant would be used for window replacement and repair, landscaping, new signage, and a mural to cover the garage door of the business located at 12 Maple Ave.

The business originally submitted an application in July. The Community Improvement Plan Evaluation Committee requested more detailed information, which was received Nov. 1.

“The committee recognizes that the total value of the improvements of over $32,000 (including labour supplied at no cost) represents an excellent return on investment of $10,000,” Bron reported.

“We want downtown looking good,” commented Councillor Dawn Quinn, who chaired the Committee of the Whole meeting.
