The Town of Smiths Falls has experienced tremendous growth in economic development in recent years, and continues to seek opportunities to foster a strong, diverse community that will attract investors and entrepreneurs.
The Town has seen an 8.9% increase in job growth from 2012 to 2017, which exceeds provincial growth rates. In addition, more than 25 new businesses have opened in 2019, compared to 26 in all of 2018. The Smiths Falls Chamber of Commerce has also had unprecedented growth in their membership rates in the last six months.
Development also continues across town. Guy Saumure & Sons Construction Ltd. has immediate plans for 200 residential apartment units in the next three years. Park View Homes has already sold 20 residential units from a new development all from a concept paper, and two other new subdivisions are sold out. Other pending new developments in Smiths Falls include a series of 20 townhomes, a twelve-plex apartment building, a 25-unit apartment building, and many more.
