Smiths’ Falls own Vimy oak was planted near the town cenotaph during a ceremony May 18. The sapling, grown from cuttings taken from trees in Scarborough that grew from acorns mailed to Canada from the Vimy battlefield 100 years ago, was planted by Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute students Eryn Hewson, Jordan Drummond, Catherine Poag and Ben Seward.
