The Sole Sisters 7th Annual Walk and Run for Cancer Research is pleased to announce that registration is open for this year’s event taking place at Lower Reach Park in Smiths Falls on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019.

Once again half of the proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Great War Memorial Hospital Foundation to be used in their Chemotherapy clinic at the Perth site of the Smiths Falls and Perth District Hospital.

The unit is a satellite chemotherapy clinic of the regional cancer program operated out of the Kingston General Hospital. If patients meet the criteria to be treated at the satellite clinic in Perth, they can have their treatments locally.

The other portion of funds raised will go to the Canadian Cancer Society and will be presented to the society’s Perth office.

Sole Sister Co-Founder Sheila Coutts, who is a cancer survivor stated, “It is amazing to see so many people come together to help local cancer patients. Every year we have people turn out to support a family member, friend, neighbour, or even complete strangers as they fight this terrible disease.”

“The fact that the funds raised stay in our community means a lot to them,” added Sheila.

Since its inception in 2013, participants in the annual Sole Sisters Walk and Run for Cancer Research have raised more than $50,000. The event has also benefited by continued strong support from local businesses and organizations through monetary or in-kind donations. Many of those businesses have been with the run for many years.

Co-Founder France Murdoch relocated over the summer to Victoria BC but is planning on returning for the event.

Participants can now register through – a link to which can be found at the Sole Sisters Facebook page found at
