The pouring rain couldn’t deter 343 hockey fans to come and watch the final Bears game at the den for this year. Unfortunately, success evaded the team once more and they lost in overtime 3-4 against the Navan Grads.
Navan initiated scoring with a goal by Nick Lachaine at 7:56, but the Bears caught up with a powerplay goal by Theo Todd at 12:06 with assists by Bruce Coltart and Tate Leeson.
Joey Warywoda, assisted by Mitchell Larabie, brought the team to the lead with a shorthanded goal at 5:52 in the second period. But Navan replied with a score by Calvin Moise at the 7:38 mark shortly after. The Bears regained the lead when Alexandre Way drove the puck into the net at 11:24, assisted by his team mates Reid Russett and Scott Gervais.
The beginning of the end came with a score by Jackson Arcan for the Grads at 14:13 in the third period, forcing an overtime decision.
The Grads took home the win just 1 minute and 46 seconds into overtime with a score by Wil Murray.
While the Bears shot a total of 39 at the net versus only only 27 for the Grads, the weren’t able to take advantage of it.
Wil Murray (NAV) was awarded First Star of the evening, Theo Todd Second Star, and Alex Wisco (NAV) Third Star.
