The Town received an invitation from the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) asking it to join the “preferred autonomous vehicles test corridor.” This is an initiative for controlled testing of autonomous vehicles (AVs). The OGRA is calling for “the creation of a seamless and well-coordinated preferred AV testing corridor stretching from Windsor to Ottawa.” The request has full support of County Council, Councillor Dawn Quinn said. She added that John Fenik, Warden of Lanark County, suggested that “if they were invited here [to the area], they might find a place to build” and thus, says the invite, “become a catalyst in helping provide unparalleled socio-economic benefits for all municipalities involved.”
