Two schools on lockdown while OPP investigate suspicious male

Lanark County Detachment

At 09:01am on Wednesday December 13, 2017 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of man carrying a crossbow in the Village of Lanark in the Township of Lanark Highlands.

The location and behaviour of the man were such that Maple Grove Public School and Scared Heart of Jesus Catholic School were initially placed lockdown mode.

The status of the schools was modified to Hold and Secure mode shortly after the arrival of officers at the scene. Normal status was resumed at 10:37am when the Hold and Secure was lifted.

Investigation revealed that the man was picked up in a passenger vehicle and left the scene shortly before the arrival of officers.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

No one was injured or threatened during the course of the incident.

    It is deer hunting season could it have been possible that he and the individual were going hunting.
    I do realize the safety concern but when it said his weapon was a cross now I would think he was going hunting.
    No you can not be two sure in an area like that.
