Chimo Elementary School hosted the Upper Canada District School Board Cheerleading Competition on May 15, 2018.

Two UCDSB schools participated in the competition – Gananoque Intermediate & Secondary School and Chimo Elementary School. Both schools had multiple teams and stunt groups, with a total of 63 athletes ranging from Grade 4 to Grade 12 taking part in the competition.

Chimo placed first in the primary and junior divisions. Gananoque placed second in the junior division and first in the senior division. The Gananoque senior team was also the competition’s Grand Champion.

There were three stunt groups and one individual stunter. Each was in a different division so each placed first. The individual stunter was from Chimo and she was named the Grand Champion for the stunt portion.

“It was a really great day for all the athletes. You could tell from the audience that everyone was having fun. They all worked hard and put some great performances out on the mat,” said Chimo coach Robyn Rivington.
